Grace your Driveway with a Chrysler Imperial

If you are a car enthusiast, you may be aware that it is difficult to get a vehicle similar to the 1981-1983 Chrysler Imperial. So, if you’re a vintage car collector, bragging about your 1944 Pontiac GTO Tri-power or your 70’s Mustang, give it a break and think for a second… is your collection really complete without an Imperial? There’s a good chance you’re not conceived yet, so allow us to present our arguments.

It’s a car with a history

Back in the automotive financial crisis of 1979, the three automotive giants, General motors, Ford and Chrysler were forced to testify before the Congress, expressing their need for federal credit. Chrysler faced a particularly tough time, which lead to the famous Chrysler Corporation Loan Guarantee Act of 1979. The company came out of those tough times to become the iconic car manufacturer.

Chryslers Were Always Highly Desirable

Back in the early eighties, Chryslers were priced around $19,000, which was quite expensive especially in the 1980s. Chrysler being more of a luxury brand than a sports or utility brand was primarily, a choice of the elite class, adding more weightage to the ‘vintage’ tag of and old Imperial.

The specs are quite remarkable

A 5.2 L (318 cu in) OHV V-8 engine can get give an adrenalin rush to any auto enthusiast. Chryslers are known for a rear wheel drive (like most cars were back then), with control arms, torsion bars, live axle, leaf springs and a car that weighed in at a good 3950 lbs.

It makes for a nice and easy drive on the freeway

25 years ago, Chryslers may have been the ultimate symbol of luxury but if you were ever to spot someone swinging one the freeway in an Imperial today, you can be assured that the owner is having a gala time in the smooth driving, easy going car and not doing so to boast of their opulence. It doesn’t even have to cost a whole lot to buy a salvage Chrysler imperial as it may not even cost more than $2000-$3000.

Here’s hoping, you’ll do justice to your vintage car collection by adding this unique, elegant automobile to it.
